If you are passionate about ancient architectural beauty and at the same time want to enjoy wonderful rural landscapes, the “Tour of the Villas” is for you. Leave your car in the square in Trichiana and walk along the narrow streets that wind around the town and its hamlets. Admire the noble and aristocratic residences built between the 16th and 18th centuries that are still well preserved. Just a short distance away lies Villa Piloni-Federici-Foscolo, built near the site of an ancient castle that was destroyed after the Battle of Casteldardo — a historic clash between the people of Belluno and Treviso for control of the area and its trade routes. Today, the villa is still embraced by a picturesque rural landscape of rolling meadows, vineyards, and cultivated fields, offering a timeless glimpse into the region’s farming heritage.
The small churches along the route are also beautiful. You cannot miss the Parish Church of S. Felice, considered one of the oldest in the Valbelluna and an ancient parish church dating back to the 6th century, strategically located near the river Piave, where there was a ferry for the transport of goods and people under the jurisdiction of the Major Council of Belluno.
