AMONG PASTURES AND HUTS

No. 2316
Signetta Ring - Monte Cimone - Col dei Gai - Val de Scroa

Description
of the route

If you are looking for an easy but very scenic tour, this loop is definitely for you! Park your car in Signetta and head into the woods. From the western ridge of Monte Cimone you can admire the craggy rocks above the San Boldo Pass until you reach the summit with a 360° view of the natural wonders that surround us. To the west, there are the Venetian Pre-Alps, of which we can recognise the peaks of Col de Moi, Monti Cesen and Garda, and in the distance the Grappa massif. To the north of the Valbelluna, cut on the long side by the river Piave, you’ll see the severe spurs of the first Dolomites with Schiara and Pelf guarding the valley. To the east, the nearby Mount Frontal and further away Col Visentin.

Finally, looking south you’ll see the Venetian Plain with the characteristic shimmer on the horizon that shows us where the Venice Lagoon lies. After being enchanted by so much beauty, it is time to get back on the trail. A few metres further down you will come across the “Col dei Gai” bivouac, renovated and equipped by the Hunters’ Association, with another beautiful panoramic view of the Dolomites. The return journey is through the Val de Scroa with its characteristic old alpine pasture structures.
